Bromley Stink Pipes

Stink pipes have been found in Bromley. Only two confirmed at this point. One near Waitrose in Bromley South, behind where the hospital used to stand until it was demolished recently. The other one is on Sundridge Avenue, the road between Bromley and Chislehurst. At this time we have no idea what may lie under the ground between these two pipes.

There is a lake in the park behind Bromley library, which apparently acts as a flood relief pool for the Ravensbourne River. It is still a stream at this point. We are considering the possibility that the stinkpipe in Bromley South may mark the passage of the Ravensbourne just before it passes into this lake. Investigations continue.

Other stink pipes are rumoured to exist in Plumstead, probably along the line of the main sewer. Our scout is to depsatched forthwith.

Of course, it goes without saying, any information, stories or pictures relating to London's Stink Pipes will be gratefully received.

There is a stink pipe on the corner of Aylesbury and Newbury Roads. The Ravensbourne runs behind the gardens on Newbury Road (railway side).
